By Jill Benone:
This show was dedicated with love and respect to The Ancient Lovelies, many of whom were veterans of the first shows. A special mini-program listed all the names they could recall. Printed and donated by Glendale Federal Bank, it was inserted into the show program.

Under the leadership of 1951 Producer Herb Wedemeyer, a surprising number actually participated in the show. An even larger number either bought donations and/or attended the show and the Cast Party. Very special guest John Gurash came onstage to receive the thanks and appreciation of all.

A time machine transports a fact-finding mission back through VW’s history. Included are Mike Lichtman, Gary Goold (back at VW for one year before moving to his own principalship), and ex-principal Steve Smith (along for the ride), although ex-Principal Don Fiske declines the trip. An ex-superintendent of schools (played by an actor) stows away for the nefarious purpose of stopping Fathers’s Follies before it starts.

The history was factual as they visit VW’s inception in the 20s, hear legendary Principal Eleanor Badour’s concern for flood control in the 30s, and leap lightly over WWII in song and dance. They meet John Gurash in 1948, who has a "little idea", and hear "A Pretty Girl is Like a Melody". They deal with cafeteria needs in the 50s, while a medly of tunes zips through the 60s. Returning home the ex-superintendent repents his past hostility and the evening ends in the Can-Can and "Hail Verdugo Woodlands".
