About the Youth House (aka The Dads Club)...
On May 26th, 1957, due to the efforts of 275 local families and generous gifts of local businesses, the dads of Verdugo Woodlands built a youth house for the children of the community. Since that time, the Youth House, better known as The Dads Club, has been home to Scouts, Pancake Breakfasts, Little League meetings,
orchestra practice, special classes and educational programs, cultural art activities, set building and rehearsal for the Father's Follies and numerous other events.
It serves as a meeting and gathering place for countless community activities. It is available for rental to all groups and organizations. It has been used for corporate meetings, weddings, birthday parties, fund raising events and more.
It has a main room that is approximately 40’ x 80’, a stage, a dance floor, a fireplace and a kitchen with stove, oven and refrigerator.

THE VERDUGO WOODLANDS DADS CLUB
Back in 1952, a group of Verdugo Woodlands Dads met together to see if they could find a place for their children's youth groups to meet. Finding nothing suitable, they considered building one. More and more Dads joined in because more and more
youth groups found they had no place to gather except in the park or in someone's back yard. Of course, under those conditions meetings could not be held when it rained or after dark.
In 1954, the "Verdugo Woodlands Dad's Club" incorporated as a non-profit charitable organization, to plan, construct, operate and maintain a Community Youth Center for all organized youth activities in the woodlands.
From 1954 through 1957 about $12,000 was contributed by Glendale families and local businessmen. The City of Glendale agreed to lease the required land on a minimum rental basis at 1728 Canada Blvd. Construction began in 1956 and was completed in 1957.
Since it's opening, the Center has been continously used day and night, rent free by more than twenty neighborhood youth groups. When not needed for planned youth activities, the Center is rented at a minimum fee for approved activities - meetings, breakfasts, parties, dances, receptions, etc.
The Verdugo Woodlands Dads Club is proud of the many fine groups using the Youth House today:
3-Girl Scout Troops
3-Brownie Groups
3-Camp Fire Girl Groups
1-Gra Y Group
2-Cub Scout Packs
2-Boy Scout Troops
as well as on occasion the Verdugo Woodlands P.T.A., Father's Follies, and the Glendale Council of Christian Churches.
Besides these everyday organizations there are others, and all of this regular usage creates operating and maintenance expenses.
The Youth House is maintained by having the groups perform their own sweeping and trash removal plus periodic outside cleanup. The Dad's Club provides the labor and incidental materials necessary to maintain the major cleaning and repairs, so most of the
the expense is for major materials as well as taxes, insurance, gas, electricity, etc.
The Verdugo Woodlands Dad's Club has in recent years just met its basic expenses by way of its annual Pancake Breakfast, rentals, donations, P.T.A. contributions and our Dad's Club Dues of only $4.00 per year. Your participation and support are greatly appreciated.
Signed
Mr. Arch Lang, President
Mr. Bill Jones, Treasurer
Mr. Bob Knapp, Secretary
